The curved handle stays comfortable to hold, even when the wall is warm from a hot drink.
That's why the wall of the mug soon picks up the temperature of your coffee or tea. So hold it by the handle.
Tested to European food safety standards; both the migration and odour/taste tests passed, none of the 19 heavy metals tested for were found. Read the full study under What does research say about copper?
Only the surface differs. Smooth keeps the silhouette calm, hammered gives the surface more depth through a handmade pattern.
Solid copper changes colour a little on its own as you use the mug. That's completely normal, and even a sign of pure, uncoated copper. If you prefer the shine, simply polish the mug with lemon and salt (not too hard: salt is mildly abrasive and dissolves well in the lemon juice). Exactly how is in the care guide.
The material is analysed by RTC Laboratory in Moradabad, a NABL-accredited lab, tested to ASTM-1621 and IS-228. In the sample that was analysed the measurement came out at 99.21% copper and 0.75% zinc; the remaining 0.04% falls within the measuring range of the analysis. Food safety is covered by a second report, from URS Products and Testing: tested against EC 1935/2004 and REACH, using the heavy metal limits from EU 10/2011 as the benchmark.
The mug is the only piece of Kopero drinkware with a handle, and that changes what you use it for. Copper conducts heat quickly, so a hot tea or coffee warms the wall within seconds. With the handle you still pick it up as normal.
That same conductivity works the other way round just as well: cold water in a copper mug feels cold in your hand almost at once.
Four hundred millilitres is a generous cup of coffee or tea, or a portion of water that can rest overnight in the tamra jal tradition. More on that in the article on tamra jal.
There is felt on the base. That saves scratches on a wooden table and it saves noise when you set the mug down. Beyond that you choose between smooth and hammered: an even surface, or a hand-worked pattern that breaks the light. The mug itself is formed from a single piece of copper, with no seam. The handle is brazed on separately, on the outside. Nothing of that joint reaches the inside, so your drink only touches the copper mug itself.
There is another reason copper became the tradition. In EPA tests, cleaned copper killed more than 99.9% of bacteria such as MRSA and E. coli within two hours, and since 2008 it has been registered in the United States as an antimicrobial material. It is also a trace element your own body uses, from energy metabolism to the transport of iron in your blood. Stainless steel and plastic are inert and do neither. The evidence is in can copper really kill bacteria.
Coffee and tea are for drinking fresh: pour, drink and rinse the mug afterwards. Lemon tea, sharply acidic fruit tea and soft drinks are at their best in glass.
Wash the mug by hand and keep the felt base as dry as you can; the dishwasher is bad news for both. The rest of the care routine is in the care article, and the natural darkening is covered in why is my copper turning green or black.
From the first clean to your daily coffee or tea moment.
Rub the mug inside and out with lemon and salt (not too hard: salt is mildly abrasive and dissolves well in the lemon juice). Rinse well and dry right away.
Suitable for hot drinks. Avoid very acidic drinks and do not keep anything in it for longer than a day.
Copper conducts heat quickly, so the wall gets hot. Hold the mug by the handle and set it on a coaster.
Tamra jal: fill the mug with still water in the evening and drink it in the morning.
Warm water and a soft cloth. Keep the felt base as dry as you can and dry the mug right away.
Every one to two weeks with lemon and salt (not too hard: salt is mildly abrasive and dissolves well in the lemon juice). Rinse well and dry right away.
The packaging also carries a QR code that takes you straight to this guide.
A familiar mug shape in tested copper, delivered with protection for both mug and table.
The material composition was tested by RTC Laboratory: 99.21% copper and 0.75% zinc, the same ratio as the rest of the Kopero drinkware. This zinc comes from the production process and isn't an added extra.
The curved handle makes the mug comfortable to hold during your daily moment.
Choose the calm shine of smooth copper or the handcrafted character of a hammered surface.
The felt base protects the mug and the surface underneath.
The mug comes in a velvet pouch, together with a felt base and a sturdy branded box.
URS Products and Testing tested the mug to European food safety standards; both the migration and odour/taste tests passed, none of the 19 heavy metals tested for were detected.
You unpack a luxury black branded box. So you can give it away straight from the box, without wrapping anything around it.
A Kopero card is inside the box. The QR code on it takes you to the digital manual.

Copper gets as hot as whatever is in it. That is why this mug has a handle and the cup does not: you pick up hot coffee or tea by the grip.
Four hundred millilitres of coffee, tea or water, with a layer of felt underneath. The mug sits still on your desk, makes no clunk on wood and leaves no scratches.
Unpack it at your own pace, feel the weight and see whether the size suits you. If it is not for you, send it back within thirty days and get your money back. If you use it for longer than you need to judge it, we may deduct for loss of value. You arrange the return yourself with whichever carrier suits you best, or you ask us for a return label. The cost of sending it back is yours.

Good quality
Very happy with it. Highly recommended
Good finish and beautiful pure copper
Yes, that's exactly what the mug is for. Just keep in mind that copper conducts heat quickly: the wall gets hot with a hot drink. Hold the mug by its copper handle and set it on a coaster instead of placing it loose on the table.
Absolutely. Fill the mug with still drinking water in the evening and drink it the next morning. Avoid acidic drinks like lemon water or kombucha for longer storage, and don't leave anything in it for more than 24 hours.
Material, a 400 ml capacity and the solid copper handle are the same for both. The mug itself is formed from a single piece of copper, with no seam. The handle is brazed on separately, on the outside. Nothing of that joint reaches the inside, so your drink only touches the copper mug itself. The smooth mug keeps the silhouette calm and even, while the hammered mug gets extra depth from the handmade pattern of small facets on the surface, while the handle stays smooth and comfortable to hold.
Rinse the mug by hand with warm water, keep the felt base as dry as possible, and dry the mug straight away. Detergent and the heat of a dishwasher leave dull patches on solid copper.
No problem: that's completely normal, and even a sign of pure, uncoated copper. If you want the shine back, simply polish the mug with lemon and salt (not too hard: salt is mildly abrasive and dissolves well in the lemon juice). Step by step instructions are in the care guide.
Pour your water into a matching copper cup. A useful addition to your mug or jug.
