About Kopero

Copper jug, tumbler, mug and pyramid on a wooden coffee table in a living room

Why this brand exists

For centuries copper simply stood on the table: as a cup, as cookware, as jewellery. Somewhere along the way that faded. Stainless steel and plastic took over, and copper became mostly something for the pipes. We thought that was a shame, because copper does more than look good: it is a trace element your body works with every day, it naturally works against bacteria, and it carries a tradition of use thousands of years old.

Kopero is a brand of JL Enterprises in Bussum. We sell in nine European countries and ship from our own warehouse in Tilburg.

How we choose products

Everything we sell is solid, uncoated copper. No lacquer on the inside, no thin copper layer over another metal. That is a choice with consequences: uncoated copper changes colour, and we have to explain that rather than hide it. It is also the best proof that there is nothing on top of it, and it always polishes back.

We also choose on things you only notice after a year: a cap that keeps sealing, a base you can put on a wooden table, a size that fits how you actually use it. And every product comes with a card carrying a QR code to the digital manual, so we can update it whenever we know something better.

How we work with the workshop

Our products are made in India, in a region where working copper has been a craft for generations. The hammered work is done by hand, which is why every piece is slightly different. That is not a flaw but the difference between handwork and machine work.

The material goes to an independent laboratory before we sell it. What was measured there is in the test dossier.

How we weigh claims and sources

A lot has been written about copper, and not all of it comes from the same corner. So we make visible which layer a statement comes from:

  • Measured. A laboratory result, a material test or published research. We name the lab or the study and link to the source.
  • Tradition. Ayurveda, Vastu Shastra, historical uses. We name the text or the period it comes from.
  • Energetic practice. Shape power, tensor work, pyramid use. We name the practitioner or the tradition holder, because that is where it comes from.
  • Experience. Observations from customers or from ourselves. Those stand as experience, not as proof.

What we say about health, we keep to the eight claims the European Commission recognises for copper. They are set out in the eight official EU claims. Our products are not medical devices.
