Test dossier

Two independent laboratories in India have looked at our products. One measured what the copper is made of, the other checked three products against the European rules for food contact materials. Below is exactly what was done.

Tested to the European rules for food contact materials: EC 1935/2004, EU 10/2011 and REACH.

1. Composition of the material

LaboratoryRTC Laboratory, Moradabad (India), NABL-accredited to ISO/IEC 17025
SampleA material sample from production
MethodASTM-1621 and IS-228
Result99.21% copper and 0.75% zinc; the remaining 0.04% falls within the measuring range of the analysis

2. Food safety

LaboratoryURS Products and Testing, Noida (India)
SamplesA copper water bottle, a copper mug and a copper pyramid
FrameworkEC 1935/2004 and REACH, using the heavy metal limits from EU 10/2011 as the benchmark
ConditionsDistilled water, two hours at 40 degrees, repeated three times
ExaminedOverall migration, smell and taste (sensory, LFGB), nineteen heavy metals in the water, and lead and cadmium in the material itself
ResultEvery part passed. Of the nineteen heavy metals, none was detectable in the water that had been standing in the product; the results are recorded as "Not Detected". The detection limit is stated in the report itself.

What these results say

The material is solid copper: 99.21% copper, measured by an NABL-accredited laboratory. And of the nineteen heavy metals the water was tested for, not one was detectable.

The testing was done on samples from our own production: a material sample for the composition, and a water bottle, a mug and a pyramid for food contact. They are made of the same copper as the rest of the range, in the same workshop. Exactly how it was measured is set out above for each test, and below you can see how to have the reports checked.

The reports themselves

The laboratories do not allow their reports to be reproduced or published, so the originals are not shown here. Instead we have made a dossier with the composition, all results, the methods and standards, and the report numbers and dates of both laboratories. That makes every number on this page checkable.

If you want a report confirmed, contact the laboratory and quote the report number and date. If you would like to see the originals, email info@kopero.nl; we will check what the laboratories allow.
