No coating and no plastic inner wall. Completely pure copper hardly exists in practice; the small amount of zinc is part of the production process, is not a cost-cutting measure and makes the copper a fraction sturdier without affecting how it works or looks.
The rubber ring in the lid seals the bottle watertight. Hand-tight is enough; the handle lies flat against the lid when you're not using it.
URS Products and Testing tested the bottle to European food safety standards: both the migration and odour/taste tests passed, none of the 19 heavy metals tested for were found. Read the full study under What does research say about copper?
Only the surface differs. Smooth gives a calm, mirror-like surface; hammered is hand-worked into a lively pattern of small facets.
Solid copper changes colour a little on its own as you use the bottle. That's completely normal, and even a sign of pure, uncoated copper. If you prefer the shine, simply polish the bottle with lemon and salt (not too hard: salt is mildly abrasive and dissolves well in the lemon juice). Exactly how is in the care guide.
The material is analysed by RTC Laboratory in Moradabad, a NABL-accredited lab, tested to ASTM-1621 and IS-228. In the sample that was analysed the measurement came out at 99.21% copper and 0.75% zinc; the remaining 0.04% falls within the measuring range of the analysis. Food safety is covered by a second report, from URS Products and Testing: tested against EC 1935/2004 and REACH, using the heavy metal limits from EU 10/2011 as the benchmark.
This bottle is made for one habit: fill it with still water in the evening, let it stand overnight, and drink it first thing the next morning. In Ayurveda that is called tamra jal, copper water, and there it is not an afterthought but the fixed opening of the day. Where the tradition comes from, and what can reasonably be said about it, is set out in the article on tamra jal.
Nine hundred millilitres is a deliberate size: enough for a full morning portion with a second glass after it, and still a bottle that fits in a bag. It stands upright on a desk, fits beside a bed, and opens with one hand.
You choose between smooth and hammered. Smooth gives an even surface that reflects the light in a single plane. Hammered is worked by hand, so every piece has its own pattern of dents that breaks the light. The copper underneath is the same either way. Both are formed from a single piece of copper, with no seam and no solder, so your water touches nothing but copper.
Still water goes in, and nothing else. Carbonated water, lemon juice, sports drinks and vinegar are acidic enough to dissolve copper faster; pour those into a glass. How much you can sensibly drink from it per day, and why there is an upper limit, is covered in how often per day you should drink from a copper bottle.
The bottle is not dishwasher safe. Rinsing with warm water is usually enough, and a slice of lemon with salt (not too hard: salt is mildly abrasive and dissolves well in the lemon juice) brings the shine back now and then. The full routine is in the care article.
And it will darken. Uncoated copper reacts to air and moisture and grows darker over the weeks, sometimes with green or black patches. That is normal, it is reversible, and it is also the clearest proof that there is no lacquer over it. When discolouration does mean something, read why is my copper turning green or black.
Still weighing up copper, stainless steel and plastic? The material comparison puts the three side by side. Copper is the only one of the three that is naturally antibacterial, and the only one you polish back instead of replacing.
From the first clean to your steady water ritual. Rinse, fill, leave it overnight: there is not much more to it.
Shake the juice of half a lemon with a tablespoon of salt in the closed bottle. Rub the outside with lemon and salt (not too hard: salt is mildly abrasive and dissolves well in the lemon juice). Rinse and leave the bottle open to dry.
Just water. No juice, tea, coffee, fizzy drinks or alcohol, and no acidic drinks.
Hand-tight is enough. The rubber ring makes the bottle watertight; over-tightening damages it.
Fill the bottle in the evening and drink the water the next morning. It is ready after four to eight hours; drink it within 24 hours.
Warm water is enough. Leave the bottle open so the inside can dry.
Every one to two weeks: the outside with lemon and salt (not too hard: salt is mildly abrasive and dissolves well in the lemon juice), the inside with lemon juice and salt shaken in the closed bottle. Rinse well and dry right away.
The packaging also carries a QR code that takes you straight to this guide.
A generous copper bottle for your daily water ritual, rounded off with thoughtful details for home and on the go.
The bottle holds 900 ml: enough to take your copper water ritual with you when you're out. RTC Laboratory also measured 99.21% copper and 0.75% zinc; this zinc comes from the production process and isn't an added extra.
The metal lever rotates with your movement and lies flat against the cap when you don't need it.
The included felt base protects the bottom of the bottle and the surface underneath.
The soft pouch keeps the bottle safe while you carry it with you.
URS Products and Testing tested the bottle to European food safety standards; both the migration and odour/taste tests passed, none of the 19 heavy metals tested for were detected.
You unpack a luxury black branded box. So you can give it away straight from the box, without wrapping anything around it.
A Kopero card is inside the box. The QR code on it takes you to the digital manual.
A morning serving and a glass after
Leakproof thanks to a rubber ring
Copper, no coating, independently measured
Food safe to EU standards, none of 19 heavy metals detected
A piece of felt under the base
Velvet pouch for storing and carrying
Bacteria killed in lab tests, within two hours
Polish it back, and melting copper down costs it nothing
You lift the bottle by the bail and turn the cap open and shut with the same hand. Handy when you pull it out of a bag or a bottle pocket, and on the smooth finish the reflection carries right up into the cap.
There is a layer of felt on the bottom. You set the bottle down without a clunk and without scratching wood or stone, and it does not slide on a smooth table.
Unpack it at your own pace, feel the weight and see whether the size suits you. If it is not for you, send it back within thirty days and get your money back. If you use it for longer than you need to judge it, we may deduct for loss of value. You arrange the return yourself with whichever carrier suits you best, or you ask us for a return label. The cost of sending it back is yours.

Very happy with the copper bottle. The water tastes softer and pleasantly fresh. The bottle also has a lovely design.
Fast delivery and a beautiful copper bottle. It looks lovely and comes with a handy velvet pouch that keeps the bottle well protected. The little handle on the cap is also very practical for carrying it. The water tastes noticeably softer and fresher; I really taste a difference. I'm so happy with it that I'll soon order another one as a gift. Definitely recommended!
Fantastic copper bottle with a smooth finish. A friendly card included with it takes you to clear instructions on how to care for the bottle. I went straight to AH to buy lemons, white vinegar and salt. I rescued my old bottle, which I thought was beyond saving, from the bin and restored it using the care instructions. Thanks to the excellent explanation, I now also understand how tarnish develops and how to deal with it. Fantastic purchase.
Good-quality copper bottle. It seals well, feels comfortable in the hand and is easy to carry thanks to the handle. The felt base prevents damage and the included bag is practical. It looks great too! Happy with it.
It's really pleasant to drink from this bottle. Good quality and very beautiful.
Lovely bottle with a carrying bag. The water tastes softer. Very happy with it.
Fast delivery and the water tastes wonderfully soft. Lovely bottle.
Great product, very neatly finished.
I think the quality is good and I use it every morning.
Still drinking water is what the bottle is made for, and what the tradition has used it for over three thousand years. Acidic drinks like fruit juice, kombucha or lemon water attack the copper faster than water does, and the same goes for fizzy drinks, alcohol and hot drinks. Brief contact is fine, like when polishing with lemon; storing one for hours is not.
For the traditional Tamra Jal ritual, count on four to eight hours: fill the bottle in the evening and drink the water the next morning. We wouldn't recommend leaving it longer than 24 hours. If the water smells or tastes different than usual, pour it out and clean the bottle again with lemon and salt before refilling it.
Just the finish: copper, a 900 ml capacity and quality are identical for both. Both are formed from a single piece of copper, with no seam and no solder. Smooth gives a calm, mirror-like surface; hammered is hand-worked into a pattern of small facets, which catches the light differently and gives the bottle a more handcrafted look.
Rinse the bottle by hand with warm water, dry it right away, and leave it open to air dry so the inside doesn't stay damp. That takes half a minute and keeps the surface even; the heat and detergent of a dishwasher leave dull patches on it. Which habits keep the bottle looking good is in 8 mistakes with a copper bottle, and what to do instead.
That is completely normal and a sign of pure, uncoated copper: the material lives along with use. The inside darkens too, often patchy at first in a new bottle, and you can keep drinking from it. At the bottom you will see a few rings, which come from forming the bottle in one piece. That is often where the copper colours first, sometimes with a purplish sheen, and that is ordinary copper oxide too. If you prefer the shine, polish the outside with lemon and salt (not too hard: salt is mildly abrasive and dissolves well in the lemon juice), and for the inside shake lemon juice with salt in the closed bottle. Step by step it is in the guide.
Yes, with both. Drinking water in Europe may not be aggressive or corrosive, not even after softening, so your tap water and copper go well together. With soft water the bottle stays practically free of limescale; with hard water a light white film can remain after draining, and lemon and salt take it off.
Clean your tongue, then have your morning water. Two products for one everyday routine.
