Why copper works

Kills bacteria on contact

Changes the water it touches

A mineral your body needs

Long used for skin and recovery

A thinner, round line (Kopero Copper Bracelet)

A thinner, round line

Instead of a wide band, this is a round copper wire with a thick, ball-shaped knot at each end. That makes it the most understated of the four finishes.

Calm and timeless (Kopero Copper Bracelet)

Calm and timeless

The round finish is the most understated of the four variants: a classic line with no pattern, clearly visible in this detail.

What you actually get

Wearing a copper bracelet is not a new idea. The practice runs from Egyptian and Greek sources through Ayurveda to the modern Western market, and it was also studied seriously a few times in the twentieth century. What those studies did and did not show is set out in the copper bracelet, a centuries-old tradition.

There are four finishes. Twisted has a classic cable structure of strands wound into each other. Smooth is a single, even band with no relief. Hammered is worked by hand and catches the light in small facets. Round is a plain round bar with no texture. The copper is the same in all four; the choice is about how visibly you want to wear it.

The bracelet is open and adjustable, with a circumference of about 17.5 centimetres. You bend it slightly wider or narrower with two hands so it stays on the wrist without pinching. Do that gently and no more often than you need to: copper is malleable, but bending it back and forth repeatedly weakens the metal.

What to watch out for

Take the bracelet off when you shower, swim and exercise. Soap, chlorine and sweat speed up the darkening, and that is the one thing that makes wearing it unpleasant over time.

On many wearers, copper leaves a faint green tint on the skin. That is a reaction between copper, sweat and skin oils, and it washes off with water. What it does and does not mean is explained in why is my copper turning green or black.

We make no health claims about wearing copper on the skin. What may officially be said about copper in the EU, and what that rests on, is set out in the eight official EU claims.

What's included: Kopero Copper Bracelet

How it arrives

You unpack a sturdy branded box with a Kopero card inside: the QR code on it takes you to the digital manual. A velvet pouch comes with it too, to keep things protected on the move or in the cupboard.

What makes this special

Solid copper against the skin

Nickel-free and uncoated, so the metal can react directly with air, moisture and skin contact.

Four characters, one material

Twisted, smooth, hammered or round: the same copper quality, each with a different texture and look.

A long tradition of wear

In the oldest clinical study (Walker and Keats, 1976), copper bracelets released an average of 13 milligrams of copper per month through the skin.

Open, adjustable cuff

You slide the bracelet over your wrist instead of clasping it shut. Bend the ends carefully and as little as possible when adjusting it.

A colour change that comes with pure copper

Solid copper changes colour a little on its own as you wear the bracelet. That's completely normal, and even a sign of pure copper. If you prefer the shine, simply polish the bracelet with lemon and salt. Exactly how is in the care guide.

Composition
0,00%
copper

99.21% copper, measured independently

The material is analysed by RTC Laboratory in Moradabad, a NABL-accredited lab, tested to ASTM-1621 and IS-228. The measurement came out at 99.21% copper and 0.75% zinc. That zinc is not an additive but a residue of the casting process: it makes the copper marginally stronger and changes nothing else. Food safety is covered by a second report, from URS Products and Testing, tested against EC 1935/2004, EU 10/2011 and REACH.

One bangle, four characters

Solid, uncoated copper, shaped as an open bangle and available in four distinctive finishes.

The bangle is made from copper you see and feel directly, with no lacquer sealing the material off.

The two ends complete the classic open bangle shape.

From striking texture to a calm profile: each style gives the same material a different character.

The bangle arrives carefully packaged in a Kopero jewellery box with a soft storage pouch.

Around your wrist in six steps

From adjusting the size to wearing it every day. The bracelet is an open cuff: you slide it around your wrist instead of clasping it shut.

  1. 1

Polish it once before you start

That way you begin with a clean, even shine and watch the patina form from the start.

  2. 2

    Adjust the size

Hold the bracelet with both hands and slowly bend the ends slightly further apart or closer together. Do this as little as possible: copper only tolerates a limited number of bends.

  3. 3

    Slide it over your wrist

Turn the opening towards the inside of your wrist, slide the bracelet over and turn it back. It should stay in place without pinching.

  4. 4

Take it off for water and soap

Swimming, showering, exercise and cleaning: take the bracelet off for those. Chlorine, soap and sweat speed up tarnishing.

  5. 5

A green film on your skin

Copper reacts with moisture and salts in sweat to form a thin, greenish layer. It's harmless and washes off again with water and a cloth.

  6. 6

Polish it or leave it be

If you want shine, polish with lemon and salt and dry right away. If you want to keep the dark patina, do nothing. Store the bracelet in the velvet pouch.

I bought it because I'd read that copper can be good for the skin and for energy. Whether it really works that way I don't know, but I feel noticeably less sluggish at the end of the day.
Sophie

My wrist often felt stiff after computer work. With this bracelet I have less of that. Maybe it's all in my head, fine by me, I'm happy with it.
Milan

Wow, this one really feels powerful. As soon as I put it on my skin warms up underneath, and after an hour I feel more calm in my body.

I don't sleep in it, but I wear it during the day. My energy feels steadier and the afternoon dip is smaller.

The twisted strands make a lot of contact with my skin. Since wearing it, the skin around my wrist feels less dry. That was the real surprise.

My husband wanted to try it too and now wears it himself. He says his hands feel more supple in the morning. So we ordered a second one.

The first few days I noticed nothing. Then I realised I still had energy left after a long working day. Not suddenly wired, just less drained.
George

The copper warms up quickly on my skin and that pleasant feeling stays for hours. That's exactly why I wear it almost every day.

Bent it gently to size once, and it has fitted perfectly ever since.

I put it on during meditation and feel a kind of warmth along my forearm. Hard to explain, but it helps me settle faster.

I'd read about copper and joints and thought: it can't hurt to try. After a month my wrist genuinely feels looser. I'm honestly surprised by that. In the first week I deliberately kept track of when my wrist felt restless. That happened less and less often. So the bracelet stays on, even though I can't explain exact...

The warm copper tone pairs easily with my watch and leather bracelet.

I'd read that copper is traditionally worn for balance. That sounded rather vague, yet my head feels calmer when I have it on. Remarkable.

After a month: fewer cold fingers and a wrist that nags less after typing. Really very happy with it. I didn't want to convince myself too quickly, so I wore it every other day. On the days without, what I missed most was the warmth. Now I reach for it automatically while getting dressed.

Powerful look and, for me, a powerful feeling too. More energy, especially in the morning.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How do I adjust the size of the bracelet?

Hold the bracelet with both hands and slowly bend the open ends slightly further apart or closer together, until it sits comfortably on your wrist without pinching. Do this as little as possible: copper only tolerates a limited number of bends, so adjust the size in small steps rather than one big correction.

Does the bracelet contain nickel, and can I wear it with a metal allergy?

The bracelet is nickel-free and made from solid, uncoated copper. If you have a known copper allergy, Wilson's disease, or broken skin, don't wear the bracelet. If you're unsure, talk to a doctor before wearing it for extended periods.

What's the difference between the four finishes?

Twisted has a classic, twisted cable structure with a finely braided pattern. Smooth puts the focus on an understated, unadorned surface and the warm copper colour. Hammered is hand-worked into a pronounced, handcrafted rhythm of facets. Round is the most understated finish: a thinner, round copper wire with a thick, ball-shaped knot at each end instead of a wide band. Material and quality are the same across all four.

Do I need to take the bracelet off to shower, swim or exercise?

Yes, take it off briefly for those. Chlorine, soap and sweat speed up discolouration on solid copper. Outside of those moments, you can just keep wearing the bracelet.

I see discolouration on my skin under the bracelet, is that harmful?

No, it's harmless. Copper reacts with moisture and salts in sweat to form a thin, greenish layer, which washes off with water and a cloth. It's a normal and temporary effect of wearing solid copper against the skin, and actually a sign of pure copper. If you want the bracelet shiny again, polish it with lemon and salt: how to do that is in the care guide.

Can the bracelet break if I adjust it often?

Repeatedly bending it wide open and closed can eventually cause metal fatigue and ultimately breakage, as with any piece of metal that's bent often. So adjust the size calmly and in small steps at the start, and avoid re-adjusting it again and again after that.

Not what you were after? No problem.

You have a 30-day right of return. Copper does take some getting used to: it tarnishes, it feels heavier in the hand than stainless steel, and now and then you will want to polish it. Give it a few weeks. If it is still not what you were after, send it back and get your money back.
